VC Venta riders win opportunity to qualify for Amateur World Championships

Garth, Myles, Mark, Sarah & Mike

On Sunday 4th June VC Venta’s Myles Gascoigne, Sarah King and Mike Naulls competed in in the Tour of Cambridgeshire Grand Fondo, all in times that now give them the opportunity to qualify for the UCI’s Amateur World Championships.

They we’re joined by Vankru Bike Fit Studio’s Garth Kruger and Mark Herbert in the 127km Gran Fondo event. Impressively all 5 managed to achieve times that now enable them to compete for a place in the UCI’s Amateur World Championships in Albi, France this August. Mike had also competed in the Time Trial the day before.

This is what Myles had to say :

The course was flat, windy and very fast. We started in different age category race pens with Mike and I in the 45-49 yrs old group. The pace was high right from the gun averaging 42 km/h for the first 25km. This was my first bike race of any kind and the adrenaline was pumping as I managed to avoid a few crashes that happened early on. All of us managed to keep upright and finish in qualifying times for Albi so there were big smiles all round. It is a fantastic event with a great atmosphere and well worth it just for the closed roads.

Another rider was spotted in Club kit at the event so if it was you please let us know!
