The August segment along Longwood Road delivered some very close competition, despite the weather being particularly unfavourable for most of the month, with riders experiencing a block headwind on most days.
In the Women’s competition, Vanda Kyselicova took the first place and 15 points along with it, posting a time of 06:41. Second place went to Marianne Durell as the only other competitor to post a time this month, at 07:53.
In the Women’s GC, Joanne Clarke remains top of the table with 72 points. Vanda Kyselicova has closed the gap on Joanne, now holding second place with 63 points. Jools May is holding on to third place with 30 points, albeit Marianne Durell has now moved closer with 22 points.
In the Men’s competition, last year’s champion Ben Gibbs claimed first place yet again, with a fast time of 04:47. Nick Barber was close on his heels with 05:52. James Locke beat out Andrew Cowie and James Cocker by only 1 second, to claim third place with a time of 05:54.
In the Men’s GC competition the top four haven’t changed with Ben Gibbs, James Cocker, Nick Barber and Christopher Purver in first to fourth places respectively. Mid table has seen a few changes of position, as James Locke has leapfrogged Martin Evans into fifth spot by one point.
