March will see riders compete over the sprint segment of this year’s competition. This segment sits in the middle of the well-travelled and familiar Winchester Road (aka the Somborne’s), running Eastbound between the junctions with Chalk Hill Road and Strawberry Lane.

At just only 0.61 miles in length with negligible elevation gain, this segment offers the perfect opportunity for riders to flex their sprinting muscles and test their 1 minute to 90 second power limits.

You approach the segment from Little Somborne,  following the road as it runs South Eastwards from the junction with Whitehall Road.

As the road curves to the left you’ll see the junction with Chalk Hill move into view on your right, marking the segment start line.

From here it’s a simple task. Sprint as hard and as fast as you can, crossing the segment finish line as the road passes Strawberry Lane on your right.

If you’ve done a good job, you may get close to the current blistering KoM time of 01:05 at 34mph set by past VC Venta Club member Paul Double back in 2015.

Please remember to obey the rules of the road when attempting to set a time on this segment. The link to the segment is here:
