May 2025 Strava Segment of the Month

Newton Stacey to Barton Stacey

This May we head north to the ‘Staceys’, a dog-leg segment with a straight final ramp like an airstrip.

The segment starts as the road begins to climb up Newton Lane after the road dips down to a crossroads.

There’s a short, sharp climb to the dog-leg - and after a right and left turn, you reach the final drag.

There’s nowhere to hide as you climb for a straight kilometre, all the way to the white trig point marker on the right.

Keep riding past the trig point a few more metres to the end of the segment. Pray for a favourable wind - it’s quite exposed.

The KOM for this segment (3.00) was set in June 2017, and the QOM (3.53) in May 2019.

Can these times be beaten this May by Venta riders?

Segment Safety

  • The roads are quite narrow here, and although they’re quiet lanes, the left-hand turn onto the main climb is quite tight, and you may not see cars coming down the hill.
  • Please consider running front and rear lights.
